Blog Instructions

Hi Everyone,

Now that I'm not in front of the audience, I can navigate the blog without any problem. Talk about embarrassing! Anyway, to post is easy. Just go to the top of the page where the blue bar is. Click on New Posts. That takes you to a blank form you use to write something. It's very similar to an email. Just make sure you add a title so we can keep organized. There's also a box at the bottom that allows you to label the post. It's a good way to know the topic. I labeled this post as Blog Instructions. Once your finished, select the orange tab at the bottom that says Publish Post. If you want to read it, just select view post and it will send you back to the blog so you can see what it looks like. If there are mistakes, simply back arrow to the previous page and click on edit. Doing that will take you back to the original draft so you can repair any errors. Give it a try so you now how to use it better. Cameron offered his computer talents and we'll use this until he improves things. Don't worry, we'll keep you posted as things change. Until you hear otherwise, use this post!

March Conference Details

Caren Holmes (Hank's assistant) sent out emails to those who are coming to the conference. It was sent out 2/25. Check your box so you can respond to her. Here's part of that letter.

Hello SPC Friends!

We’re looking forward to seeing you all again here in Boca Raton! It’s time for me to start planning your trip. Those of you arriving on Sunday, March 21st will attend the radKIDS training here at TLO on Monday, 3/22, Tuesday, 3/23 and Wednesday, 3/24. Those of you who are already here for the radKids training and those arriving on Wednesday, March 24th will attend the SPC meeting here on Thursday, 3/25 and Friday, 3/26.

I need the following:

1. Your name as it appears on your photo ID – If it’s different than the way your name is listed below.

2. Your cell phone number if you want me to add it to your airline reservation and provide it to the limo service picking you up at the airport.

3. Name of your home airport that you want to fly out of and back into.

4. Time of day you prefer to fly out of your home airport on your departure day; if you can’t leave before a certain time, please let me know.

5. If you have a frequent flyer account number you want me to add to your reservation, please let me know.

6. The SPC meeting is scheduled to end at 4:30PM on Friday, March 26th; however, it may end sooner if people need to leave to catch their flights.

7. If you have any dietary restrictions or requests while you’re here, please let me know.

Web Site Changes

Our website has been updated. There are a few areas still under construction but most are ready to go. The site is our public face. You'll notice that much of the writing was shortened. That's because many people don't spend time to read wordy paragraphs. Another thing you'll notice is that we have a In Your Backyard spot. This is where you can advertise any activities you hold in your area. We want to promote your group and share with the readers that SPC members are parents who care about local issues as much as national ones. It's our way to show the reader that the SPC serves their local areas too. So, if you have something you want posted, email it to me. Please send pictures and write a short paragraph about your activity. I promise to forward it on to TLO. When they have time, they'll upload your information.

For information that is time sensitive, post it here. That way this blog will be a source of current information. I know we send emails out, but it would be great if this blog could be a one stop shop for all the information you need. I hate sifting through my emails.

New Beginnings

Welcome to our blog site! I'm not good at this so be patient. We chose to put this together so that the coalition could stay in contact directly. Mark, Cindy, and I worked to get the web site completed. While we worked on that, we dreamed of a site that would be more interactive and updated. However after spending the last three months working on it, we discovered that it's too much to ask of the programmers. Our site is put together by TLO, but their employees are often extremely busy. Their schedule prevents using them like we hoped. So we're adapting here. This blog is an experiment. It is meant for EVERYONE so feel free to post whatever you want SPC members to know about. My only favor is that we protect the intent of this blog. Let's keep this information about things related to missing and exploited. This isn't where we sell tupperware. Let's also keep this a useful site. It's meant to help communicate, so post away! This blog is only for members so don't give out our password. Any questions?
